The BIOPS platform and ULB's HeLSci training centre are enriching their training catalogue in biostatistics. Their goal: to enable participants to make proper use of this tool in their job.
During their studies, many students rank statistics among their most disliked classes! Yet collecting, managing, and analysing data is essential in research. ‘Biostatistics is a crucial part of life and health sciences,’ explains professor Fati Kirakoya, academic coordinator of the BIOPS platform(1). ‘And for good reason: variability is an intrinsic and fundamental attribute that exists in all living systems. By mastering certain skills, researchers can gain a better understanding of their results.’
Target audience
Starting this year, the BIOPS platform and ULB's HeLSci training centre are partnering up to offer a dozen training programmes in biostatistics. These are intended for all those who use and interpret data as part of their academic or professional activity: PhD students, researchers, project managers, employees of biotech or pharmaceutical companies, and so on.
Programme content
The programmes offered are designed to suit the realities on the ground. Featuring many case studies, they rely on an intuitive approach and do not require advanced knowledge of mathematics.
Each programme has a specific objective:
