Bioxodes is a Belgian-based clinical stage Company committed to developing natural compounds for the treatment of thrombotic and inflammatory diseases. The Bioxodes’ lead candidate, Ir-CPI, is a unique antithrombotic molecule which has the uncommon properties to inhibit both initiation factors involved in the intrinsic pathway and in the contact phase of coagulation, and cellular components associated with the formation of blood clots. Bioxodes’ clinical program for its lead product candidate, Ir-CPI, includes Phase I/IIa trials studying Ir- CPI for thrombo-inflammatory diseases prevention. The Company is building a pipeline of additional product candidates targeting the activation of neutrophils which are key players in numerous inflammatory events.

Mission Description

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The primary role of the CMO will be to provide leadership and direction for Bioxodes’ pipeline of regulatory strategy and clinical development programs in thrombo-inflammation and inflammation, and value creation activities. The CMO will be responsible for the strategy, direction and execution of the Company’s clinical development plans. The CMO will be a key member of the senior management team as a member of the Company’s Executive Committee which determines and oversees research and drug development at Bioxodes and sets the overall strategic direction of the Company. Responsibilities:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

  • Direct the global drug development path and clinical strategies,
  • Orchestrate and manage clinical aspects of regulatory strategies and interactions with

Health Authorities,

  • Oversee the medical activities including the analyses and interpretation of clinical trial data and the reporting of clinical trial results,
  • Establish and lead relationships with the international scientific and medical communities, including the development of Advisory Committees and strategic consultation with opinion leaders/clinical investigators and any other stakelholders,
  • Provide clinical support and work with other members of the management team to develop and communicate the overall corporate strategy,
  • Represent the Company and its programs to external audiences, including the investment, medical and regulatory communities, as well as pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry collaborators/partners.

Candidate profile

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Medical doctor. A strong knowledge in haematology/haemostasis or inflammation is anasset.
  • 10 - 15 years minimum experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry with experience as a sponsor working on investigational new drugs.
  • Management experience in leading a clinical group including clinical/medical affairs and clinical operations.
  • A proven success record in early stage/Phase I-II clinical research studies and trial design as well as the successful submission of IND filings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of relevant EMA regulations and guidelines including those of the US health
  • authorities.
  • Experience with, or strong knowledge in thrombosis and inflammation.
  • Experience in translational medicine, clinical pharmacology and early-stage development is preferable.
  • Knowledge of the competitive environment for drugs in the anticoagulation and inflammation marketplace and in research and development pipelines.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of clinical research concepts, practices, and GCP and ICH Guidelines.
  • The successful candidate will be required to read, write and speak fluent in French and
  • English, to possess good communication skills and be capable of articulating the Company’s clinical and regulatory strategies and progress to a wide audience.
  • Must have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have high personal values and ethical standards.
  • Must have entrepreneurial mind set, problem-solving ability and creativity.
